It's funny how quickly the rhythm of the season changes. Just a few weeks ago we were making Fourth of July plans, and now backpacks are filling with fresh notebooks while August waits literally around the corner.

There's still plenty of summer left to enjoy, though. Catch a concert in the park, wander through the Packing House, cheer on the Angels, or finally visit that neighborhood restaurant you've been meaning to try. We hope this week's Scoop helps you make the most of it.

🎭 Exclusive first look inside Anaheim’s new Concert Hall

The Gist: Anaheim’s $5 billion OCVibe mega-project hit a huge milestone July 28, 2026, as workers put the finishing touches on seat installations in the new 5,000-capacity concert hall. Media and music industry folks put on hard hats to tour the site, getting a sneak peek at backstage artist suites, the Gallagher Club, and even a 20-year-old tree craned directly into the artist lounge.
Why It Matters: It gives our local music scene a massive boost without forcing us to drive up to Los Angeles or down to San Diego for a great show. Tucked alongside the venue, phase one also brings us Katella Commons, making it a fantastic new gathering spot for the whole community.
What's Next: Phase one, including the concert hall and market hall, is set for its grand opening in March 2027.
🎒 Karina's Backpack Project brings free supplies
The Gist: Karina's Backpack Project, the nonprofit that has distributed more than 80,000 backpacks nationally since its founding, is holding a free backpack and school supply giveaway this Sunday, August 2, coordinated with Anaheim Councilmember Carlos Leon's office. Each backpack is age-appropriate and packed with grade-level supplies, and the group has donated 700-plus filled backpacks in past Anaheim-area events.
Why It Matters: For working families across West and Central Anaheim, a filled backpack is the kind of quiet cost that adds up. Free ones with the right supplies inside remove a very real barrier to a confident first day. Details on location and eligibility are available through Councilmember Leon's office and the Karina's Backpack Project site.

🫓 Wood-fired flatbreads and Lebanese treasures

638 S Brookhurst St, Anaheim
Little Arabia Restaurant has held down its Brookhurst corner since 2014, long before the district earned its official name. Behind the understated concrete facade lies a dining room and a breezy, covered patio made for squeezing in late-summer catch-ups over silky hummus, charcoal-grilled kebabs, and spiced soujuk pies.
With an in-house market stocking authentic Lebanese snacks, you can take a little of that sunshine home.

🩰 Moving feet and undefeated stories

5468 E La Palma Ave, Anaheim
Dance Precisions enters Season 39 with the same focus on technique that has anchored its 20,000-square-foot facility since 1987. From Little Dancin’ Shoes for age two up to advanced training, the space hosts over 160 weekly classes spanning tap, hip hop, KPOP, and ballet.
Recent highlights include K Russell's undefeated piece "Loop" taking top honors all season, plus the upcoming Torn Silk Ballet Summer Intensive running August 3–7.
