Life seems to gently remind us to slow down and enjoy what's right in front of us.

One of our favorite stories today is also a reminder that caring for one another starts with the basics. Every Anaheim Elementary student will once again receive free breakfast and lunch this school year, making life a little easier for thousands of local families. 🍎 Every AESD Student eats free again this school year

The Gist: The Anaheim Elementary School District confirmed it will keep serving free breakfast and lunch to all students in the 2026 to 2027 school year. The meals reach every child across the district's 23 schools through the federal Community Eligibility Provision, offered in partnership with Anaheim Union's food services. No application or income paperwork is required.

Why It Matters: For the roughly 14,000 kids in the district, that is a real dent in the monthly grocery bill and one fewer form to chase down before day one. Menus and details are posted through the district's Nutrition Services page.

🎟️ The Ultimate Disney Fan Event is Coming to Anaheim

The Gist: Disney just announced a spectacular lineup for D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which is taking over the Anaheim Convention Center and Honda Center from August 14 to 16, 2026. Hosted by stars like Neil Patrick Harris and Ryan Seacrest, the three-day weekend will feature rare concerts by legendary composer Alan Menken, milestone anniversary celebrations for Alice in Wonderland and Beauty and the Beast, and exclusive sneak peeks at upcoming movies.

Why It Matters: Having this massive global celebration right in our backyard brings an incredible burst of creative energy, excitement, and tourism to Anaheim. Celebrate the classic stories we grew up with, connect with fellow fans, and experience some world-class Disney magic right down the street.

Since the early 1980s, directors Lawrence and Sarma Lapenieks Rosenberg have guided Anaheim Ballet with immense dedication. Beyond their famous December Nutcracker performances, they champion the STEP-UP! program, offering free daily training to local income-qualified youth.

You can catch their Summer Intensive students performing a free public show at Pearson Park Amphitheatre this Friday, July 17. Or, try an adult drop-in class yourself, no prior experience required.
