🐧 Ducks Swap Sticks for Spatulas at 25th Annual Dux in Tux

The Gist: The Anaheim Ducks hockey rink was transformed into a massive dining room for 450 guests during the 25th annual Dux in Tux gala. Over 30 local chefs from spots like Il Girasole and Selanne’s Steak Tavern teamed up with players like Jackson LaCombe and Mason McTavish to prepare and serve multi-course meals. The night was a big win for the community, raising more than $300,000 through dinner sales and a live auction to fund local youth programs.

Why It Matters Seeing pros like Ryan Strome and Lukas Dostal serving dinner shows a real commitment to our backyard. The funds support the S.C.O.R.E. program, which provides school curriculum and hockey access to 45,000 local elementary students.

🎤 Mayor Aitken's State of the City Is Coming Up

The Gist: Mayor Ashleigh Aitken will deliver her 2026 State of the City address at the Grove of Anaheim on Wednesday, April 29. The annual event brings together residents, local nonprofits, and businesses for a look at the city's progress and upcoming priorities. The luncheon is a fundraiser for the Anaheim Community Foundation, which supports nonprofits and programs across the city. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

Why It Matters: The State of the City is one of the few moments each year where Anaheim residents can hear directly from their mayor about what's happening across all parts of the city: from housing to infrastructure to community investment.

🧆 The gold standard for proper Brookhurst falafel

1208 S Brookhurst St, Anaheim, CA

Kareem’s has been the pulse of Little Arabia since 1996, keeping the original Hawari family recipes exactly as they started. The strip-mall setting is simple and confident, letting the vibrant, herb-packed falafel take center stage.

Pair a plate with the silky baba ghanouj or the hummus topped with filet mignon and pine nuts. It is a neighborhood staple that remains effortlessly cool, genuinely affordable, and consistently better than the rest.
