One of the best parts of summer in Anaheim is how easy it is to stumble into something fun. Maybe it's a concert in the park, a farmers market visit that turns into lunch, or an evening spent listening to jazz at the Packing House.

This week's Scoop is full of those kinds of opportunities, along with a few stories that remind us how much is happening across our city. We hope you find something worth adding to your calendar.

๐ฐ Anaheim's tourism boom shatters records

The Gist: Visit Anaheim just announced that our city welcomed a record 26.5 million visitors in 2025, bringing an incredible influx of life to the Disneyland Resort, Honda Center, and our local convention scene. All that foot traffic translated to a massive $6.8 billion in direct spending, creating a total economic impact of $10.4 billion and supporting 67,817 local jobs across town. Chief Executive Officer Mike Waterman noted that the Disneyland Resort alone welcomes attendance comparable to hosting a Super Bowl every single day.
Why It Matters: This massive surge does some heavy lifting for our neighborhood, bringing in $970 million in state and local tax revenue that effectively hands every Anaheim household the equivalent of $8,940 in tax relief. The excitement keeps rolling through the summer as Disney On The Yard presents Yardfest 2026 at Downtown Disney later this month.
๐ Our librariesโ summer reading and civic pride program
The Gist: Anaheim Public Library officially launched its summer reading program, "Plant a Seed, Read," running through July 26 across all six branches. Partnering with Anaheim Public Works, the program teaches kids about ocean conservation and neighborhood cleanups alongside reading challenges. Families can look forward to upcoming events like the Angels Baseball Rally Readers storytime, magic shows, and a Juneteenth celebration on June 17. Sign-ups are available now at any branch or online through Beanstack.
Why It Matters: By pairing books with interactive lessons on caring for our city, the program gives local kids a fun, holistic way to stay engaged and connected to their community all summer long.
